- Remembering Rollie Rohm and Tom
by Scotty Boman
An open letter to those concerned with the Rainbow Farms Massacre (See event schedule: Sept 4th , 5th & 6th)
Dear freedom lovers:
I regret being unable to attend the activities being held this week pertaining to the killings of Rollie Rohm and Tom "Grover" Crosslin. My work schedule and distance make my participation Neely impossible. But if I could attend I would.
I remember, with great fondness, attending the roach roast in 2000. It was one of the most inspiring weekends of my life. I have never been around nicer people, nor been the guest of more generous hosts. No one was harmed by this gathering, and I think many people were better for having been there.
Regardless of the details, one thing is clear. These men died because our government is out of control. In their zeal to enforce intrusive laws, politicians have created a law enforcement culture where-in their agents can kill decent citizens, and feel confident that they will get away with it.
While you may not hear about us in the media, there are decent people running for office who respect individual rights. Some of them, like myself, are with the Libertarian Party. We believe in the right of all people to their own life. Specifically, our platform calls for an end to drug prohibition and confiscatory taxes. In short, we support the kind of society in which these two gentlemen would still be alive.
Don't give up.
My prayers are with you.Back to Contents
- Letter Writers Alert!
by Scotty Boman
I read a disturbing editorial in Sunday's Free Press.
Here is the link to it:

They should get lots of letters in response to this. Regardless of how one feels about the MCRI, their suggestions, if put into law, would effectively end citizen inspired ballot initiatives, and ballot access by petition.Back to Contents

- Liberty Fest Facing Cancellation: No Affiliates Interested
by Scotty Boman
The Libertarian Party of Michigan’s annual Liberty Fest has traditionally been held in the second week of November. With that date only a couple of months away, no affiliate has yet expressed interest. Since this event has always been hosted by an affiliate (which can keep money earned there-in) it will be cancelled by default.
Perhaps that date is too close to the election. If an affiliate is interested in hosting it at a later date, say early December, they need to make their intentions clear to the LEC. They need to do so at once.
